Anointing of the Sick confers God's blessing and the Holy Spirit's gifts of peace and courage on those who are ill, infirm, elderly or suffering from chronic illness.

Anointing is available to any Catholic at any age who is ill, infirm or suffering from chronic illness. 

Anointing should not be considered or reserved for "last rites."
Families and caregivers should not wait until a person is dying
to seek anointing, as a priest may not be available in time.

Individuals may be anointed at any Mass of the Anointing of the Sick or at home, in the hospital or in a nursing home.
