40 Days for Life Campaign to Present the Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe
The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is coming to the
40 Days for Life prayer vigil site in Owings Mills on
Sunday, May 30 from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. This event, located on the public right-of-way in front of 100 Painters Mill Road, is part of the
Triumph of Mary Tour. The image is an exact replica of the original image of Our Lady which she left on St. Juan Diego's tilma, and it has been associated with many miracles and healings.
Speakers will include Jay Walton, leader of the Owings Mills
40 Days for Life campaign, and Diana Massino, leader of the
Triumph of Mary Tour. There will also be a one-block procession with music. The free event will conclude with the praying of the Rosary.
"Even though our very successful 40-day campaign to end abortion concluded on Palm Sunday, we continue to bring a Culture of Life to Owings Mills," said Jay Walton, who coordinates our local
40 Days for Life events.
"This image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is so important to pro-life advocates because it is the only apparition of the Blessed Mother where she appears pregnant. After the Patroness of the Unborn appeared to St. Juan Diego in 1531, the rampant human sacrifice being committed by the Aztecs ended. We pray that people today will find the strength to emulate Mary's faith and choose life."
