Boy Scout Troop 706 has been sponsored by Sacred Heart for
over 50 years! Currently we are a group of 30 boys
(ranging in age from 12 – 18) who meet every
Thursday evening to learn skills in leadership, camping, and many other topics. We are a "boy run" troop, so the boys decide the topics that we will be learning. Most recently we have discussed engineering, fishing, and cycling. Through demonstration and hands-on activities, we get to learn these skills and have fun. We also go camping one weekend every month. Our latest camping trip included a bike ride on the NCR trail that ranged from 18-42 miles, depending on skill level. We learned bike safety along with bike maintenance. Other trips have included skiing, kayaking, and backpacking.
This summer the troop will be camping for a week at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation where we will be sleeping in tents, working on merit badges, and having a great time! A group of older scouts will be attending Florida High Adventure Sea Base, a high adventure scout trip where they will be experiencing a variety of ocean adventures.
If any boy in grades 6-12 is interested in participating with the Boy Scouts, please contact Jackie Seal at
